What exams are required?

Required examination information
All test scores must be sent directly from the testing agency. The institution code for SAT, SAT subject examinations, TOEFL, and AP scores is 4290, and the code for ACT scores is 5270. If you have received an original copy of your examination results, please bring this to the TAMUQ Admissions Office.

Applicants whose native language is not English are required to demonstrate English proficiency by meeting one of the following requirements:
- TOEFL scores of 550 paper-based test, 213 computer-based test, or 80 internet-based test
- IELTS with 6.0 overall band score
- SAT critical reading score of 500 or higher
- ACT English score of 19 or higher
- Completed all four years of high school from a U.S. accredited high school
In lieu of TOEFL, university officials may consider as a substitute an SAT critical reading and writing scores of 500 or higher, or an ACT English score of 21 or higher.
Applicants are also required to submit an SAT I or ACT examinations with the following recommended scores:
- SAT I score of 600 or higher in the Math section
- ACT score of 26 or higher in the Math section.
In lieu of SAT, university officials may consider as a substitute an ACT Math score of 26 or higher.
Students are not required to take SAT subject examinations; but students who take these tests and present high scores are viewed favorably in the admissions process.
